ISO 4589-2 Oxygen Index Tester

ISO 4589-2 oxygen index test is an internationally accepted
standard method for evaluating the combustion performance of
materials in a mixed environment of oxygen and nitrogen. It is
widely used in flame retardancy testing of products such as
plastics, rubber, films, foams, fibers, composite materials and
electrical materials. By determining the minimum oxygen
concentration required to maintain combustion (oxygen index, OI),
this test provides key data for material research and development,
quality control and regulatory certification, and is suitable for
flame retardant material evaluation in the fields of construction,
electronics, automobiles, aviation, etc. The test must be carried
out in a standard environment and equipment to ensure the accuracy
and comparability of the results.
Standard
ISO 4589-2
a standard test method for determining the oxygen index (Oxygen
Index, OI) of materials developed by the International Organization
for Standardization (ISO), specifically "Plastics - Determination
of combustion behavior - Part 2: Oxygen index method". This
standard is used to evaluate the ability of materials to resist
combustion under specific conditions and is widely used in the
combustion performance testing of materials such as plastics,
rubber, and fibers.
